The Name is the Vision

Qawsain - Arabic for double bows - is the term used in the Quran to represent the distance between the Prophet (peace be upon him) and the angel Jibril when he reached his highest inspiration during his heavenly ascension.

Thus our name is our vision: our graduating children to be fully equipped to reach their highest inspiration both in this world and in the hereafter.

Our framework

We believe that the Quran equips us with the best methodology to help children acquire knowledge and build good character. Therefore, our trained educators work hand in hand with our founder to implement this innovative method into the content and curricular competencies of Qawsain's coursework, while remaining fully accredited by the B.C. Ministry of Education.

Our Founder

Imam Fode Drame is a prolific author, linguist, Quranic Exigist, teacher, father, and international speaker. He founded Qawsain in 2013, 8 years after establishing his own non-profit foundation (Zawiyah) in Vancouver, in dedication to his vision for humanity. Just as Zawiyah Foundation has been at the forefront of a number of community initiatives and Islamic literacy, Qawsain Knowledge House is built with the same intentions.

Did you know that every Friday is “Friday Fun” for math class? Students get to use their newly-learned skills and apply them outside of the classroom through fun games and activities! This week was all about measurement 💚📏

Ramadan Mubarak 🌙 from Qawsain Knowledge House! Let’s kick off this blessed month with our ✨Student Spotlight✨ on Manha reciting her 5-Senses poem about Ramadan. Masha’Allah, Manha, nice work!

We are sending a very special ✨THANK YOU✨ to our generous donors who gifted Qawsain laptops for the classroom. Our classroom possibilities are now endless! We have been using the laptops in our ADST (Applied Design, Science and Technology) classes as well as to complete and integrated Math final project. Grades 7-9 used the laptops in this project to create their own dream vacation keeping a specific budget, researching accommodations and areas of interest, and creating a realistic travel itinerary and map!

Masha’Allah, grades 5 and 6 completed their study of human body systems with a 3D model of each system! Each student showcased their creativity and attention to detail by using materials ranging from pasta and yarn to clay and styrofoam. Great job, everyone!!

Our ✨Student Spotlight ✨ is on Idris this week! Idris’s favorite surah is Al-Fatiha, which he can be found reciting anywhere to anyone at any time of the day! Masha’Allah Idris, keep it up!

This week grades 7-9 tested their theories about diffusion using different temperatures, concentrations, and solvents! 🧪✨ Students confirmed that molecules diffuse faster in hotter temperatures with a higher difference in concentration!

When you just get back from PE but you’re still dedicated to finishing your Surah 👏🏻 Masha’Allah, our student spotlight is on Javeria this week! Javeria is always practicing her Surahs and loves to recite for anyone who will listen 🥰

Last week Qawsain took a field trip downtown to explore Beyond King Tut: The Immersive Experience with Imam Fode. We had a day full of learning, exploring the city, and having fun! A big thank you to our generous sponsors who made sure all of our students could attend the trip 🤍✨

The ✨Student Spotlight✨ is on Nazar! Nazar is always one of the first boys to volunteer to make adhan for prayer time and encourages the others to practice theirs as well. We love hearing his call to prayer and can’t wait to have the students back next week to continue this tradition! Masha’Allah, Nazar, keep it up!

مَا شَاءَ ٱللَّٰهُ Students have been working hard to improve their Arabic in Term 1 — their hard work is helping them in reading and memorizing Quran as well. We can’t wait to see their growth in Term 2!

The ✨Student Spotlight✨ is on Uzair! Uzair never ceases to amaze us with his creativity and ingenuity in and out of the classroom! While playing with ordinary MathLinks blocks, he discovered he can create moving masterpieces! Masha’Allah, Uzair, keep it up!

Grades K-2 have been counting to 99 with their tasbihs and the names of Allah!

The ✨Student Spotlight✨ is on Fatimah this week! Masha’Allah, Fatimah has shown exceptional leadership this term leading several clubs - including slime club! Each week Fatimah directs and coaches the participants in making a new kind of slime 💚

Grades 3-6 are exploring fractions with hands-on practice. Math can be fun too! ❄️🧮

Our ✨Student Spotlight✨is on Saeed this week! Saeed build the strongest 3-D structure out of toothpicks in ADST class. Great job, Saeed!
